Some Natural Remedies for Eczema Rash

Eczema is a skin condition where there is inflammation of the upper layers of the skin. Eczema rash is one of the main symptoms of eczema along with dryness of the skin and itching. There are various types of eczema including atopic eczema, contact dermatitis, xerotic eczema and seborrhoeic eczema among several others. The most common type is atopic eczema.

Eczema symptoms might vary from person to person although the common characteristic usually seen is the dryness of skin. The

dry skin tends to become red and inflamed and these tend to itch. Due to the itching, it is quite common for sufferers to scratch these areas and when the area is constantly scratched, eczema rashes start appearing.

The inflamed red rashes can sometimes lead to opening of the skin and bleeding. Sometimes, even oozing from these areas might be seen. The texture of the skin also might get thickened and crusty due to constant breaks in the skin and due to the scratching. The inflamed areas can sometimes get infected and lead to formation of pus which will require antibiotics to alleviate the symptoms of infection.

Some Remedies to prevent Eczema rash

Although eczema cannot be completely cured, the symptoms like itching, dryness of skin and eczema rash can be alleviated and episodes can be kept minimal. If dryness of the skin is avoided, the other symptoms too will be reduced. Dryness of skin can be prevented by keeping the skin moisturized by using emollients twice in a day, once right after taking a bath or shower.

Some lotions like Calamine can be used to keep the skin cool and prevent dryness of the skin. This will help in preventing itching and thereby reduce the incidence of rashes. The areas that itch can also be kept cool and moisturized by applying an icepack against the area. These will also help in reducing rashes from appearing.

Harsh soaps and detergents are to be avoided as they can irritate the skin and trigger symptoms of eczema. Even while selecting any soap it is best advised to use a mild unscented soap that is first tried out using a patch test to see if any symptoms are being triggered. Also, it is best to avoid any kind of irritation to the skin through use of perfumes and deodorants that can increase itching and appearance of rashes.

Diet modifications are also advised by dermatologists as some foods are capable of triggering symptoms of eczema. Also, digestive problems like acidity need to be alleviated as these too can have a bearing on eczema episodes and trigger symptoms. Cotton clothing is preferred to other materials as some fabrics can cause itching and rashes.

Eczema rash and itching are common symptoms of Eczema. Although itching is commonly seen in many other skin conditions, eczema does not occur without rashes being present. Although no cure exists for eczema, symptoms like rashes and itching can be reduced by following appropriate methods.
